Changing Your Part to Create Different Hairstyles

Are you tired of sporting the same old hairstyle year after year? Would you like to have a hair makeover without drastically changing your haircut? How about changing your hair part? Indeed, this simple trick that requires no major tools or shears and can dramatically change your look! Changing your hair part is an ideal step for women who are afraid of commitments when it comes to changing their hair, as well as those who are too scared to try out something totally different from their regular hairstyles.

The best part about changing your hair part is that you can try it one day, and then go for a different look the next day. There is an endless array of styling opportunities to try with a simple change in part. Are you ready to explore hair part theory?

Center Part with Waves

If you want to try a sultry and sexy hairstyle, go for a center hair part. The trickiest thing about a center part is that it can be a little too vague. Unless you are strutting the runway, it can be a difficult look to pull off. Hence, add in some bouncy waves to your hair (starting from the middle to the end) to give it some body and also make your center part more fun and fit for day wear.

Use a pointed tail comb to create that center part and use either 1-inch or 1 ¼ inch barrel curling iron to create your waves. You can also manipulate where the waves fall to highlight important facial features. If you want to make your cheekbones look more prominent, focus on making the wave patterns fall right around the cheekbone area. On the flip side, if you want to downplay your round cheeks, go for a larger barrel size with the curling iron. When curling your hair, bring it inward. If you have a long face, though, you might want to skip the center part as it only adds more length to your face.

Sleek Center Part

Yes, I’ve mentioned about a sleek center hair part being a thing of the runway, but why not take it from the runway to the street? Such is the trend these days with runway hairstyles being brought onto the streets and made good for daily wear. Such is the case with a sleek center part. A sleek center part also highlights your facial features more prominently, so it’s a great part to try to showcase your beautiful face!

To style, use a pointed tail comb to create a straight line across your hair. Whip out the blow dryer in order to give a smooth finish and keep the top portion of the hair flat and sleek. Finish off that top part by running a flat iron. Then, gather the front pieces and tuck them behind your ears. To keep them from sliding off your ears, secure with bobby pins. To finish off your sleek center part, spritz a good amount of strong hold hairspray.

Side Part

This is probably one of the most popular choices for a hair part theory among women, especially celebrities. No red carpet event will pass without a single celebrity wearing the deep side part for a retro hairstyle. The good news for you is that it can be easily recreated for your day to day hairstyle.

Start off by choosing the side with which you want to create the part on. From there, start forming waves with the use of a curling iron. Go for larger sized barrel curling iron to create bouncier, softer waves. Aside from making waves, the trick to making this part look fabulous is to get lots of volume on the top of the hair (starting from where the part is). Make sure you use a root volumizer and then blow dry the hair starting from the roots to get maximum lift. Another reason why the side part is highly popular is mainly because it works with any face shape and brings out the beauty in your facial features. It also works with any outfit or occasion.

The Hair Flip

You’ve probably seen this hairstyle before and wondered how they do it! There are no hard and fast rules to doing the hair flip, the newest innovation in hair part theory. The distinctive characteristic is that it looks a lot like a side part… only with mega volume!

To create the hair flip, prep your hair by applying a good amount of volumizing mousse. Work it into your hair strands before blow drying your hair. Then, spritz some more texturizing spray before whipping out your curling wand. Flip the hair to one side and let it sit for about 30 minutes. This will help set the new part and get really nice volume on your new hair part.
